Vincent Luis Dominates Ironman 70.3 Bahrain 2024

The Frenchman Dominates Ironman 70.3 Bahrain 2024

Vincent Luis claimed victory at the Ironman 70.3 Bahrain 2024, finishing ahead of Mathis Margirier. On the women’s side, British athlete Georgia Taylor-Brown secured her first win at this distance.

This race marked a triumphant return for Luis, who previously won in Bahrain two years ago during his last outing at this distance. In this year’s event, which doubled as the Middle East Championship, Luis led the swim (22’36) before being overtaken on the bike by three competitors, including Margirier, who led for most of the cycling and running segments. However, Luis, who transitioned from Olympic-distance racing earlier this year, used his formidable running skills to regain the lead.

A Victory Sealed by Strong Running Performance

Exiting the second transition in sixth place, Luis steadily advanced during the run, taking the lead at the 18-kilometer mark. He crossed the finish line in 3:32:16, clocking an impressive 1:06:52 for the half marathon. Margirier, preparing for the long-distance World Championships, stayed close but finished 15 seconds behind (3:32:31). German athlete Wilhelm Hirsch secured third place with a time of 3:33:18.

Georgia Taylor-Brown’s Debut Success

In the women’s race, Georgia Taylor-Brown made a stunning debut at this distance, finishing first in 3:56:56. She outpaced Germany’s Tanja Neubert (3:57:18) and Caroline Pohle (4:01:13), delivering a double victory for the Luis-Taylor-Brown couple.
